Curriculum
Key Stage 3

In Years 7 to 9, the curriculum covers a full range of text types in preparation for GCSE study.

Students study a novel, poetry, a Shakespeare play, and non-fiction texts in each year.

In Year 9, there is an increased emphasis on developing the skills required for GCSE as students transition to Key Stage 4.

Key Stage 4

In Years 10 and 11, students follow their GCSE and IGCSE English pathway.

All students study for the Pearson Edexcel English Language IGCSE, and the AQA English Literature GCSE.

The majority of students sit final examinations in both English Language and English Literature. A small number of students, while continuing to study the Literature texts, may sit the final examination in English Language only.

Key Stage 5

In Years 12 and 13, students follow AQA English Literature Specification A.
