An Unforgettable Iceland Adventure

Students enjoyed an action-packed and unforgettable trip to Iceland, exploring some of the country’s most spectacular landscapes while learning more about its geology, geography and sustainable energy. The group visited Thingvellir, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet, before exploring Kerið crater, Friðheimar Greenhouse, Geysir and the dramatic Gullfoss waterfall. Their adventure continued with visits to Skógafoss, Sólheimajökull Glacier, Reynisfjara black sand beach and Seljalandsfoss, providing incredible opportunities to see first-hand how ice, water and volcanic activity have shaped the Icelandic landscape.

The trip also included visits to the Lava Centre and the Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant, where students learned more about Iceland’s volcanic activity and how geothermal energy is used to generate renewable power. There was also time to relax in the Secret Lagoon and explore Reykjavík. One particularly memorable highlight was seeing the Northern Lights on two consecutive evenings, alongside a clear view of the Milky Way. It was an extraordinary few days filled with adventure, learning and experiences that students will remember for years to come.
