Lower School Entrance Procedure
Registration
Registration forms & fee to be submitted prior to the offer of a place
If the prospective pupil has any learning support needs we will need to see Educational Psychology Reports or Statements before an appointment is made for the assessment.
Assessment
Reception – Year 6: A full day will be spent with the relevant class.
Following a taster day a decision will be made & an offer will be confirmed in writing
Upper School – Year 7
Entry to the Upper School is by Entrance Examination.
The assessments take place in a morning and will be 3 hours in total.
Maths paper –1hour in length
English paper –1 hour in length Comprehension Essay
There is no verbal or non-verbal reasoning paper. However there is a spelling and reading age test and also a dictation exercise.
Children with learning support needs can be given extra time and we would like to be given as much information as possible before the exam on any problems a child may have so we can take it into account when marking the exam papers.
We also request a confidential report sheet from the child’s junior school and look carefully at this when deciding whether or not to offer a place.
Sixth Form
Entry is by formal application form, supported by a confidential reference from their school.
