The Upper School houses Years 7 to 11 and the Sixth Form, providing specialist teaching facilities in all subject disciplines. Entry is by examination, but in line with our ‘family’ ethos we may admit some pupils who do not meet our academic criteria but would benefit from a smaller school.
• All subjects follow, but are not restricted by, the National Curriculum. Most classes are set on ability, enabling the more able to be stretched whilst also supporting the slower learner.
• French is taught in Year 7 and a second language is introduced in Year 8 for able linguists.
• Year 9 pupils are guided through an Options Programme to help choose suitable subjects for GCSE study.
• Information Technology is taught as an independent subject and also integrated into all aspects of the curriculum.
• We work closely with the Independent Schools Career Organisation to provide careers advice, and work experience placements are undertaken in Year 10.
• A Learning Support team is available to support pupils with mild learning disabilities and offer assistance with general study skills.
• Pupils are encouraged to develop new skills in sport, music and public speaking.
• Our links with the Church of England ensure that Christian values are upheld, but all faiths are welcomed and fully accepted.
