World Challenge to Morocco
'World Challenge' is an expedition company established in 1987. They strongly believe in education through experience and provide opportunities to school based groups, offering them the chance to take part in the 'experience of a lifetime'.
When we launched our expedition to trek around the mountains of Morocco, we were promised physical challenges and eye-opening cultural exchanges in a journey of self-discovery.
Several weeks of fundrasing, including a 24 hour non-stop table tennis rally, resulted in us raising an average of £300 per team member. It was soon time for the pupil's of St. George's School to leave for Morocco.
I found the approach to the airport by coach was nerve wracking and so did the pupils, as it was a new experience for us all. Peter, our guide from 'World Challenge', met us at Heathrow and made Nabeel our first team leader.
Once we arrived in Marrakech after a smooth journey, the team took charge of responsibilities and I began to see how well the group were going to work together.
Over the week there were both physical and mental challenges, trekking across rough terrain and camping out in the wild. The hard work was greatly rewarded with the beautiful scenery of Morocco and the warm and friendly personalities of the local people we met along the way.
After a fantastic week with the group, watching them grow and become more independent, I want to make the point of saying how proud I am of them all. They worked well together and kept each other's spirits up throughout the week away, enabling them to over the challenges set.
I truly believe that this has been a positive experience for all involved. They went away as individuals and returned as a team.
Well done!!!
Louise Passmore, Team Leader
